The backflow preventer (RPZ valve) must be easily accessible for testing and servicing, mounted at least 12 inches above the trough flood level, and should not be installed above the ceiling. A drain line with an air gap should be piped from the relief valve connection to prevent water damage from slight discharge during normal operation.
The backflow preventer must be tested periodically in compliance with local codes, but at least once per year. Refer to Watts instruction sheets IS-TK-DP/DL, IS-TK-9A, IS-TK-99E, and IS-TK-99D for field testing procedures.
For this 18"D x 60"W model, the trough rough-in hole should be 15.25" wide x 60" long x 4.25" deep. The plumbing compartment rough-in should be 27.375" wide x 14.75" long x 11.25" deep, with specific placement dimensions for F, G, and L.
