For optimal performance and warranty coverage, the water supply must meet specific guidelines: Total dissolved solids less than 60 PPM, Total alkalinity less than 20 PPM, Silica less than 13 PPM, Chlorine less than 1.5 PPM, and a pH Factor between 6.8 and 7.3. Use of a Middleby Water Treatment System is recommended if these standards are not met.
The boiler water level control must be flushed at least once a day to remove sand, scale, and other sediment that may accumulate in the float chamber, ensuring proper operation and preventing boiler damage.
The CSD-1 controls include a high temperature safety device, a high pressure safety switch, and a low water safety cut-off. These devices shut down the boiler and activate lockout conditions to prevent property damage, injury, or death.
After turning the main power switch ON and the boiler fills to the proper water level, the heaters require about 15 minutes to begin steam generation. The boiler pressure gauge should then indicate 9 to 11 psig.
The cold water supply requires 3/8" O.D. tubing at 25-50 PSI. A second connection for condenser feed (if applicable) also uses 3/8" O.D. tubing. The drain connection is 2" (51 mm) IPS and must be piped to an open floor drain with no solid connection.
